How to Prepare for Your Daniel Fast and Develop Your Faith

By December 26, 2016Daniel Fast 2017

One of the most important steps you can take for your successful fasting experience is to prepare. Not only will you be aligned and ready for the fast, but you will enjoy the anticipation of the forthcoming experience.

I created a quick 16-minute video to help you learn how to prepare for the fast. Just click on the link below to learn:

  • About opening your heart to God and partnering with Him for the fast.
  • About planning your start date for the fast . . . and your conclusion date.
  • How to select your purpose for fasting and why it’s so important for the Daniel Fast.
  • About gathering the resources and making plans for your study during your Daniel Fast.
  • How to plan simple and nutritious meals and who this step is essential if you want a spiritual experience rather than focusing on the food and satisfying the flesh (instead of feeding your soul and receiving from God).
  • How to sanctify yourself for 21 days and grow in your faith during this powerful spiritual discipline.

By the way, one of the most important steps to take in preparing your body for the fast is taper off caffeine! Start about 10-7 days before the fast begins so that your body is free of caffeine when you start. Also, taper off sugar and processed foods. At the same time, slowly increase the amount of fiber you consume (fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, etc.). This will avoid physical reactions as your body conforms to the very healthy way of eating during your fast.

I always like to hear from other members of the body of Christ . . . and so do other visitors. Please leave your comment below. Share your aspirations about the upcoming Daniel Fast.

Susan – thank you so much for following the Lord into this ministry. I am planning a start date of 2/11/2017, and completing on 3/4/2017. I especially appreciate your article on “hijacking” and am looking forward to just keeping it simple without trying to make delectable goodies using “legal” ingredients. What is the point of fasting if you spend all that time and effort making it more physically comfortable? Seems like you would miss the purpose, growth and rewards. I have done ALL sorts of nutritional manipulations throughout my life for many different reasons, but I am truly focusing on a spiritual purpose with this adventure and am looking forward to coming out on the other side closer to God and more in tune with His purpose for my life. Thank you again for all you do!

I hope this is considered a reply. It’s more of a plea!

I am so very frustrated! I made the decision over a week ago to start this program. I suffer from many physical and emotional issues and I feel like this is the answer to many prayers.

I am frustrated because I have so many simple questions but even with all the emails and other resources, I don’t know where to go to ask my questions. With so many hundreds, probably thousands of people involved in this, I don’t see how my little questions can possible be addressed. I’ve posted a question on the Facebook page and on the blog. How to I go back to find my answers?
My main question is, what is the difference between The Detox and The Fast? I have all the required materials for both but which do I use? I’ve been weaning off coffee and sweetener this week so I can start early next week. Do I eat meat or not? I had read that I should eat only things grown in the grown and only water to drink. Then I watched the webinar and they are talking about grass fed beef, lean chicken, herbal teas and Chickory. Please help!!! I’m so confused! Thank you for any help you can give!

    • Susan Gregory says:

Angie, I’m not sure what you are watching. I teach about the Daniel Fast. Maybe you have watched about The Daniel Plan (which is not a fast at all).

The Daniel Fast is a method of spiritual fasting. Food is not the focus. The purpose of the fast is not a diet or a detox. Those that teach that it is are wrong. The Daniel Fast is a method of spiritual fasting

      I hope this helps.

It’s a blessing that I found your website today. I started my fast today and I feel very unprepared for it. It’s the first time for me so I didn’t think about preparing for it in any way but by praying for the Holy Spirit to guide me through it. I wish I’d found your website before and I’d ordered your book of recipes because I don’t really know what I’d be able to eat besides fresh fruit, raw vegetables and vegetable broth, what would you suggest me to add before I can order your book? I excercise and I’m very active person and I didn’t think about that before starting and I’d prefer not to stop and start all over again because I’d probably find excuses to wait until another time. I think I was planning to make my fast more about silencing the world around me -I won’t be watching TV, listening any Christian music (that’s the music I listen to) or using social media- so I can listen the voice of God and know what’s His will for my life as this new year starts unfolding but I feel like abstaining from some food will help me too. Thanks for your kind help and please pray for me to learn the value of fasting. Hope I’ll have your book for my next fasting. God bless you.

hi Susan! i am not diabetic but i am hypoglycemic (sugar can go low if i do not eat sweet) and i prefer to drink juice for that than eating whole fruit. during the fast can i drink the naked green machine smoothie, it is made of greens and fruits but there is one ingredient i am not sure of , natural flavors, is that ok to drink that smoothie while fasting. Also, can i eat malt o meal hot cereal in the morning. it has malted barley, is that ok to eat during fasting. please enlighten. thank you very much Susan.

Anyway, i am starting my fast tomorrow and it is probably a challenge because my husband decide not to fast, , so i have to prepare two kinds of meals everyday. please pray for me.

    • Maria says:

I forgot to ask can you eat miso soup, adding ginger, garlic and onion?

      • Susan Gregory says:

It all depends on the list of ingredients (not the nutritional analysis) on the food label. If the ingredients in any packaged or prepared food you consider are all plant-based and free of chemicals, sweeteners, and anything artificial, then you are good to go.

        Be blessed.

  • Xoliswa says:

    Hi Susan
Is it ok to drink water with pure lemon juice?

    • Maria says:

Hi this is my first time and I really want to do this right. Can you have whole grain flour (wheat, quinoa, spelt) sunflower oil and flaxseed? Are you also able to eat oatmeal with fruit?

Thank you and I am looking forward to getting closer to God.

  • Glenda says:

What kind of peanut butter is allowed and how much sugar in the peanut butter ?

    • Susan Gregory says:

My preferred brand is Adams. The ingredients are peanuts and nuts.

Read the list of ingredients on the label and make sure it’s free of sweeteners and chemicals. You can also make your own peanut butter using the machine now available in most supermarkets and in health food stores.

      Be blessed.

  • Tiffany Lacy says:

Praise God, Just wanted to chime in and say a few positive facts about the fast. The first time i did the fast was last month started December 3rd.
At first i was very apprenhensive. Thought i was going to be uncomfortably starving myself to death. I prepared my grocery list and went shopping, Wow over one hundred dollars , but it turned out I had more than enough food to last all month. Everyday got easier and easier, sometimes I had to ask myself was I realy Fasting. I almost made it the 21 days but had to be put on an antibiotic, so I ended it 3 days early. Today I have made the choice to do it again reason being, during the time of my fasting I began journaling. I discovered God truly loves me and all my prayers were answered. Thank you Father in Heaven. I prayed for him to bring me closer to him in the spiritual realm and he has it was so subtle I hardly noticed it.
I’m on Board, cant wait to see whats in store for me next.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Thanks for your message, Tifany. God is so good. And clearly you experienced the truth in that when we draw near to God He will draw near to us.

Be blessed. So glad you are joining us!

  • Mabel says:

Thank Suzan for the guidance for fasting programme. I am here for the first time and I want to grow in my faith and be closer to the Lord, my life.

  • Jennifer Anne Moree Rascoe says:

    Hello Susan,
Life is amazing. Actually God is amazing. I recently stopped my caffeine intake as I experienced insomnia after surgery on Dec 19. I have done the Daniel Fast twice before. I look forward to beginning on Jan 8th as well. God bless you for allowing God to use you in so many ways. This summer, I get back to writing my book. God bless you in 2017. I pray that God astound you this year with his mercy, grace and favor.

  • Sharon Turner says:

I love the fact that you explain and lay everything out. I am fasting again with you on the Daniel fasting. Susan God our father has a very selected a very wonderful person to reach & teach his people how to fast correctly and with a spiritual purpose. Thank you for being obedient to his word. I am all in.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Thank you for this very encouraging message, Sharon.

Words can’t describe the amazing blessing I feel from the Lord for calling me to this work for Him. He truly is the wind beneath my wings and I give Him every ounce of credit for how so many people grow in their faith on the fast.

      Be blessed, and thanks again.

  • Kiki says:

I started my fast on the 1st. I’make having a hard time dealing with loneliness and I find watching TV for company. I also feel like I’m cheating but I’m never hungry. Any suggestions?

    • Susan Gregory says:

      Hi Kiki,

I encourage you to use the amazing creativity that inside of you (you are made in God’s image) to find ways to address your loneliness. Develop a plan for 2017. Make cookies for friends. Write about your futures and where you want to be in five years. Read some great books. Rework your wardrobe. There are so many things you can do. Seems like the Lord is calling you to go deep. He has treasures for you if you go after them.

Fasting doesn’t mean you have to be hungry. Eating differently with the restrictions provides the “confrontation” to the flesh that we want for a fasting experience.

      Be blessed.

  • Renee says:

Susan, thank you so much for your wisdom in this area! I was so very blessed by your video. I was supposed to start my fast on 1-1-2017 and I had no idea that I needed to prepare myself. Since reading and listening to your information here, I realize that I need to do preparation, so I will try to do this starting 1-7-2017. Please keep me in prayer as I attempt this. I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I can sense the love of Christ through your video and your love for what God has given to you! Blessings my sister!

    • Susan Gregory says:

Thank you, Renee. God is so good. I praise Him for giving me this call and for directing me.

I appreciate your encouragement. Good for you to realize you needed to prepare. We live in a ‘now’ society and often don’t prepare and then have mediocre results. So wisdom what in your heart as you made the decision to prepare and then enter into the fast. Be blessed@

    • Laura Curtis says:

Hi I too moved the fast up to Jan 8th as I had not done any prior prep. First let me thank you Susan for all you do for the glory of God and to help me to get closer to my Lord who saved me. Part of my walk has been to understand that the Lord can save me from myself! That self gratification that leads to all sorts of unhealthy behaviors. I am in equal parts both excited and hesitant about tomorrow. I have been cooking all day and making all sorts of things from your book the Daniel cure. I ordered your latest book as well the Daniel fast and should be receiving it next Tuesday. One thing tho.. I made your herb crumbs today on PG 211 of the cure book (which didn’t specify what type of tortilla chips to use )and then just saw your video today about tortilla chips being fried and not being Daniel Fast friendly. The ones I used for the crumbs are tostitos, not sure if fried but it doesn’t say baked anywhere on package.. Gosh! I made all these darn crumbs ( LOL) then stored them and even
used some in your hummus recipe! Am I OK or do I not use these! One other question sorry this is so long but if I get those caffeine withdrawal headaches ( and I have in the past) is it OK to take Advil or do I just grins or grimace and bear it? Thanks for all you do… Laura

      • Susan Gregory says:

Hi Laura. Glad you’re on your way and so good that you chose to prepare. That’s a wise move.

Baked or homemade tortilla chips are allowed on the fast. Not deep fried. Check about the brand you use.

Regarding the caffeine withdrawals. Drink lots of water. Eat foods rich in potassium. Pray. And then if you still have pain, take an OTC medication.

Be blessed on your fast. So glad you’re with us!

        • Laura Curtis says:

TY Susan and thx for the helpful tips. Another 2 questions: can I use more salt on my food than is called for in your recipes,I.e. salt my lentil soup in moderation? #2 Bragg’s Liquid Amino’s takes place of salt/soy but it is fermented is that off list? Thx for all u do…

  • Ann says:

  • Lore says:

My mother started her Daniel Fasting on Monday 1/2/17 and wanted me to join. I’m familiar with it but just never tried it, so the last couple of days I researched to gain more knowledge. I started today because it’s my brothers birthday who I been praying really hard for. Thank you Susan for a detailed and organized study that has helped me with my first Daniel Fasting. Day 1!

    God bless

  • Gerilyn Harris says:

I committed to do the Daniel fast in the New Year and my mom sent me your website–how helpful! Thank you for sharing these resources. I am praying the Lord shows me any idols I have hidden in my heart, that I listen more intently as He chooses to speak to me, for wisdom regarding our family plans, and for a financial shift in the next 5 months. The Lord is ever faithful. I am excited to set this block of time apart so that He may be seen more clearly and heard more readily.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Praise God! He is faithful to deliver His promises. Our part is to have faith! Know that you know that you know that you know . . . and His blessings will come to pass.

  • Brian says:

Great advice as I and others in our fellowship start this coming Sunday.
A small point and I know several of my age suffer from this – is it possible to have the videos without the background piano distracting from the words?
Will let you know how we do and how we discern His blessings.

    • Susan Gregory says:

I usually just use music on the head and the tail. So when you watch those I use for teaching about faith during the Daniel Fast they will be mostly music free.

      Be blessed!

  • Barb Cunningham says:

Thank you so much Susan for this fast! This will be my ninth year of fasting with you!! Unfortunately, our church has disbanded, but my husband and I are going to still be fasting starting with you on January 8…Praise God! Look forward to hearing from the Lord and relishing in Him everyday!

    • Susan Gregory says:

Awe, yes! Dear Barb – you are one of my early adapters! Thank you so much for checking in.

Sorry to hear about your church. I had a difficult time with a church that I truly loved when it “turned” and I found I needed to stop attending. It’s a challenge to find a place with a pastor that preaches the Word and has a loving community. You and your husband are in my prayers.

Love to you, dear one! My heart is smiling as I think about you! πŸ™‚

      • Wanda Tucker says:

Hi Susan. This is my ist time ever to fast! & didn’t know about weaning off the caffeine! I was a heavy coffee drinker & just stopped cold turkey! Thought I was coming down with the flu. The more I study your info. By the way very helpful! I realizes I’mean having withdrawals.I know you keep saying water is only drink allowed but was wondering about plain herbal tea which is no tea just herbs is it allowed. I don’t want to mess up & am determined to finish this fast. I want to become closer to God, Jesus & my Holy Spirit. Our Pastor asked the whole congregation to join him in the Daniel 21 day fast. My Daughter & I are doing it together for ist time.your Web site is very helpful. God Bless you.

        • Susan Gregory says:

          Hi Wanda,

I try to get the word out about weaning off caffeine before the fast is started. But a lot of folks miss it. Glad you found the info now.

Tea? No, the only beverage on the Daniel Fast is water (see Daniel 1).

I hope you and your daughter join our group! We have so many faithful Christians who are growing as they experience this powerful spiritual discipline.

          Be blessed

  • Stacey says:

    Hi Dusan,
Thanks for this time and all you are doing to help others for this fasting. My church started the day on Monday but this time I didn’t have the heart to join with them. I choose to join with you for the first time on the 8th. Reasons been is how you put everything together and how you explain it all it really got my attention on what I am really going to do and what am going to fast for. So am preparing myself for thy he 8th as its in my heart to join with you this new year. I really want to do this fast with a reason, a purpose and a goal. I really need to see the hand of God move in my life this year like never before. I need to really draw closer to him, to read, study and meditate his words more. I want to see myself really change from this fasting. And as you have mentioned that it’s not about the physical food which I do agree with as at tmes we just seem to focus to the physical food.
So am going to ask you if you could lift me up in your prayers for this 21 days of fast I would really appreciate it very much.
Once again thank you MD may God continue to bless you supernaturally, abundantly and overflowing in all areas of your life.
    God bless.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Thanks you for your message, Stacey. Your desire for meaning and purposefulness is what God has been calling me to teach. I hear Him calling us to go deeper with Him and to focus on developing our faith so we can be the bright shining witnesses He calls us to be.

I’m so glad you are with us . . . God hears your heart and is pleased that you are seeking Him.

      Be blessed.

  • Carolyn Sloan says:

Awesome information – one of the BEST preparation tools I have seen!

    • Susan Gregory says:

      Thanks Carolyn.

My greatest hope is to help women and men experience a successful fast – focusing on the Lord rather than food!

      Be blessed on your fast.

  • Nancy Loftus says:

I am recruiting several people to do with me! I’ve done it now four times; and have always felt so much healthier and closer to The Lord. A question; in the past I have eaten corn tortilla chips with homemade salsa. Is that not allowed? Also had a question about Ezekiel bread. Is that allowed? I also like to roast my raw almonds, and eat them that way; is that ok? Thank you for your help and encouragement!

    • Susan Gregory says:

All that you mentioned is fine EXCEPT the Ezekiel bread which contains leavening and sweeteners. Otherwise, you’re good!

      Be blessed.

  • Sebastiana Tinagpitin says:

This will be my first time doing the Daniel Fast. I first heard it from my friends who are currently doing it on their own time. I did some research on it and it’s amazing. I am excited to try it out, and grow closer to God.

  • SARAH L CHILDS says:

This is my first time fasting. I am starting tomorrow as that is when my church is starting. I am a bit nervous because I just found out about it on Sunday so I did not have as much time to prepare my body however I think that due to my current way of eating I may transition better than I think. I have been praying and asking God to help my body stay strong during the transition. I am really looking forward to this time with the Lord – taking my relationship with Him to another level and learning more about my purpose. I was so excited when I came across your website and realized you were the person behind this. God bless you, Susan!

    • Susan Gregory says:

So funny, right Sarah! Kirsten told me about your message to her and it brightened my day!

Yes, you will be fine. The big deal is caffeine! Drink lots of water to flush your system and eat foods rich in potassium to ward off headaches and leg cramps.

So glad you will be joining us! Be blessed, dear one!

  • christelle gezwind says:

Ask the Holy Spirit (who is living in her) to give her wisdom and insights about this relationship. Cast your care on God and continue love your daughter as she goes through this experience.

      Be blessed.

  • Min. LaDonna says:

    God bless you, Susan!
I’m excited about the Fast this year and can hardly wait to get started. Last year’s Fast drew me closer to God than ever before. I was empowered and enlightened spiritually and some days I abstained from food completely and only drank pure water. During those moments of discipline, something amazing happened to me. I was strengthened and elevated to a place I have never gone before. My eyes became open to all that there is and I came to an understanding about myself that I can’t begin to express. His voice is much clearer and so is my purpose according to His will.
Do you know where I am in my journey, Susan? I am completely changed forever and if full of Joy! Thank you for being a blessing!

  • Tamiko says:

  • Diane hamilton says:

I am starting the Daniel Fast but before starting are there and scriptures that i need to start focusing on.

    • Susan Gregory says:

      Hi Diane,

Do you have the book, The Daniel Fast: feed your soul, strengthen your spirit, and renew your body? It has a 21-day Daniel Fast Devotional along with a complete cookbook. The big deal about the book (bestselling, by the way) is that you will learn about the fast so it is a deep spiritual experience for you.

Also, join our fast to receive spiritual blessings and studies during your time of prayer and fasting. And one more thing, read the Book of Daniel. His example of man of faith is powerful!

  • Tiffany Sutherland says:

This is my 2nd time doing this fast but I know God is calling me to do this specific fast and at this time. I want to walk every step with Him. I want to know Him more deeply and be lead by the Holy Spirit., My greatest desire and prayer.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Lean into God. Depend on Him for even the small things. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. You are His treasure!

  • Ijeoma says:

This will be my first of many Daniel fasts, and I am looking forward to the experience.

  • Ed says:

This is the first time that I will be going on the Daniel fast and I am looking forward to it. I have only recently started fasting in the past 2 years and it can be challenging, especially when one lives alone. This website would definitely be a supportive tool where one can discuss their experiences with like-minded people. Thank you and may God bless us on this journey

    • Barbara says:

I am also looking forward to the Daniel Fast. This will be my second time, but I think a focused too much on food. I am not one to fast, as I felt I would fail God and myself. But as I’ve grown in my faith, I am ready for all of the spiritual benefits of just being alone with God. I am encouraged by all of the information yu send out. I want to be healthy physical and spiritually to do the work God has for me.

      • Susan Gregory says:

        Praise god, Barbara!

Your heart’s desire is to serve God, which is what He wants of us because He loves us so very much. I am so glad you are joining us! Be blessed as you enter into this time of faith.

    • Denise Baker says:

How do u do the fast being pre diabetic, when i was doung high protein and vegetables, which has helped me feel better

      • Susan Gregory says:

        Hi Denise,

Take a look at the book I wrote with Dr. Richard J Bloomer titled the Daniel Cure. Dr. Bloomer conducted extensive clinical studies on people (including those with type-2 diabetes) using the Daniel Fast. The results are amazing and again proves God’s wisdom in nutrition for our bodies.

  • SS says:

This is going to be my first Daniel fast, I believe will help me get where the Lord has wanting me to be and allow me to draw closer to God and help me do his will in my life.

  • Herminia says:

I really want this fast this year but I’m actually breastfeeding my 3 month old baby. Will i be able to fast?

    • Susan Gregory says:

Yes, you can fast. You may need to add additional protein since you have a special need. Eggs, cheese, chicken and other protein-rich foods in appropriate amounts is acceptable because of your circumstances. Keep all the other guidelines of the fast. All is well.

  • Jessica says:

I already set a quit date but this will help me ge t there faster, I really want to do this fast to draw closer to the Lord. I have been replacing coffe with non caffeine herbal teas like green tea and chamomile because thr chamomile helps me rest and sleep better, as a diabetic this fast will be great also I’ve already quit sugar and only use pure stevia, would the teas be ok to continue? The Lord has been speaking to me about health issues for aw hile,I have been tapering off some pharmaceutical meds. And using more herbs vitamins and supplements, are they ok too? I have high blood pressure as well but wanted to get on a natural alternative to treat it should I continue taking this med? Be blessed on your fast.

  • angela jackson says:

first time doing the Daniel Fast seeking God guidance tired of running….seeking my relationship with him !!!! And want to know what my purpose is

    • Susan Gregory says:

The Scriptures have a lot to say about our purpose. The first and foremost is to love God and others. Jesus gave his disciples their marching orders and ours is the same:

Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, β€˜The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10-6-8

This is one of my favorite messages about our purpose:

  • Angie Murray says:

Susan can whole wheat tortillas be used on the Daniel Fast? I am trying to stocky pantry with foods I can eat on the Daniel Fast. I am also preparing mentally for the Fast. I am in the process of reading the book of Daniel and doing a study on it. Thanks for letting me be a part.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Ezekiel wraps are okay. Most other wraps or tortillas include ingredients that are not allowed on the fast. Check your local health food store. Also, make sure you read the list of ingredients on the labels of any tortilla you consider. They are usually packed with chemicals or other ingredients not allowed on the fast.

      Be blessed!

  • Lillian says:

First time I’m joining the Daniel Fast. My purpose for going on the Daniel Fast is to draw nearer to God and to seek wisdom and guidance for my life and the life of my children. I am mentally prepared now. Thank you Susan for your encouragements and leadership. God bless

  • Namoonga says:

I have a question about smoothies—are they allowed? Aren’t they technically a beverage? You’ve blended the fruit/veggies up and created a liquid to drink. Its almost the same logic as adding leaves to water (which gives you tea)…so I’m just curious on how smoothies are different? [there’s a comment on here from you Susan about plant-based smoothies being a good option for the Daniel Fast]. I’m all for drinking smoothies- they would actually help me out greatly!- but just wanted to clarify on if they are allowed and how they differ from sugarless/honeyless leaf tasting water

    Thanks πŸ™‚

    • Susan Gregory says:

This is one of those gray areas. The only beverage on the Daniel Fast is water. Smoothies, when used as a liquid meal, are not considered a beverage. If you feel in your spirit that using smoothies during the fast is not appropriate for you, then pass on them. One of my go-to breakfasts is a berry smoothie made with nuts and unsweetened soy or almond milk. It’s a great start for the day. I use it as a breakfast meal, not as a beverage.

I do realize this is a fine line . . . as there are others. But using a smoothie as a meal is the distinction that is used in fasting for this age we are in.

      I hope this helps.

      • Frances Sohn says:

How do you prepare meals when you’re feeding four people, and they aren’t on the Daniel Fast?

        • Susan Gregory says:

You can serve a lot of Daniel Fast meals and they may not notice. Mix them in by adding some meat proteins and then Daniel Fast side dishes. You can eat more the sides and none of the animal proteins.

Soups, stews, hearty salads can all serve as centers for most of your meals.

  • Karen key says:

I have done the Daniel Fast twice & will again beginning January 8. I am looking forward to what God has in store for me this time.
2016 was a tough year for us – hoping & praying 2017 is better.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Karen, many have the same thoughts about the past year. Praise God that it’s in the PAST! God’s mercy is new every morning and certainly every new year!

Walk into this year with a focus on drawing nearer to God and with a goal to develop your faith. He is there for you always.

      Be blessed.

  • Keganele Malikongwa says:

This will be my first time embarking on this fast and I am very scared and excited at the same time. I trust God will see me through. I am studying the material in preparation for the fast and trust that I will manage.

    • Tifeshon Adams says:

Don’t overthink it! Relax, God gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, whose primary assignment is to comfort God’s sons and daughters when we are faced with uncomfortable situations. Last year was my 1st fast, since going all in for Jesus. It was challenging, yet the most rewarding experience. It changed my life and I drew closer to God. I did have a couple days I strayed to celebrate an event, or moment of weakness but I recommitted and didn’t give up! You can do it. You won’t know the possibilities until you try. One day at a time!

  • Aidah says:

Thank you for the tips.. I’m praying to know more about Christ and to seek wisdom in my life.
I pray to become close to God and focus on his word and to lean on him all the time.

  • Roz says:

I have #FreshEyes for DanielFast this go round. Thanks Susan for your humble heart of leadership to realign our focus. You Are Loved, Appreciated, Celebrated and valued!!!

    • Susan Gregory says:

Thank you, Roz. I appreciate your loving and encouraging words.

My greatest concern about the Daniel Fast is that there are so many people “out there” teaching about the fast focusing on “tasty meals” and actually giving wrong information. The sad part is that when those fasting focus on meals and food, they miss out on the amazing gifts and revelations God wants to give.

Fasting is restricting food for a spiritual purpose. So many folks miss out when their focus is on the flesh rather than the Spirit of God.

Thanks again. Be blessed on your fast.

  • Sharifa says:

    Good morning
I have done the fast before twice In fact the first time was very successful the 2nd time I stopped on the 19th day due to ill health but on both times I was very in line with God regarding prayer and reading the Bible and meditation and obedience..but what worries me is that after the fast I’m not as connected.as I would like to be.
Please help me with advice because I read booklets and scriptures during the first that is given to me so after the fast I no more have guided reading material ..please give me advice although I am surely a child of God
    ThAnk

    • Susan Gregory says:

Sharifa, I encourage you to make this need part of your purpose during the Daniel Fast. Ask the Lord to show you how to fall deeper in love with His Word. See His Word as your living food. And get to where you desire it so much that you won’t put it off or fall away.

Be blessed, and walk in the Spirit.

Thank you

    • Andrea says:

Hi, I was on BP medication briefly several years ago but when I started drinking green smoothies, my BP got under control and it still is. I try to make green smoothies a part of my regular meal plan, which maybe helpful to do as a part of your fast.

    • Lauraine says:

When I did the Daniel Fast, and I do plan on doung again, I found that I was much healthier than before…just like Daniel. Make sure you include all the food groups…protein from beans, nuts, fats from avocadoes, etc. When eating this way, your body should come into alignment. After all, that was the way God gave us before the fall…fruit and veggies!

  • Kathy says:

I am so willing to start the fast. I have felt so disconnected from God. I am going to prepare and be ready. Thank you for the guidance you will provide.

    • Susan Gregory says:

Kathy, in these busy and hectic times in our culture it’s easy to get disconnected. But God’s mercy is new every morning. You can use this fresh start as your transition into a deeper relationship with Him. He is delighted that you are choosing Him!

      Be blessed
